Rockets away!

25th Jan 2025
This month we have had lots of fun learning about the names of the planets and space. We listened to  the 'planets song' in circle time and printed our very own planets using balloons. We also made long and short rockets using lego and our own cardboard ones in our art class. The story 'Whatever Next' about a teddy bear going on a space adventure was really exciting and we were able to sequence the storyline as we read through the book. Our absolute favourite activity was playing with our space felt board, where we could order the planets and place rockets, asteroids and astronauts floating in space.
We played with our 'moon' sensory bin both inside and outside, finding rockets, astronauts and aliens hiding in it. In maths, we have been doing lots of work with numicon and have been learning about 'long' and 'short', sorting objects into both categories. What a great start to 2025 our class have had!
