Last week we participated in Maths Week here in St. Paul's N.S. There were lots of activities and competitions running throughout the week.
- Each day the children solved a maths problem of the day and entered their answer into our raffle.
- Our amazing artists worked on posters on the theme of 'Maths is all around Us'.
- The classes enjoyed a board game afternoon on Friday in which the children worked on strategy, counting and problem solving skills in games like Uno, Battleship, Monopoly, Connect 4, Guess Who, Snakes and Ladders and many more.
- In our infant classes we have been working hard on creating patterns, learning our shapes and numbers and engaging in lots of hands on Maths Challenges pictured below.
- The senior classes participated in 'Ireland Rocks' a times tables competition. Well done to all our students, we came 86th out of over 1000 schools nationwide which is no mean feat! A special congratulations to our top ten students who are pictured below with their prizes.
We celebrated our weekly achievements with a 'Mathematician of the Week' award in each class, announced at our Friday assembly to recognise the dedication and enthusiasm of our students in the area of Maths.
Thank you, as always, to the staff and parents who helped facilitate the week and of course to the children for their participation and enthusiasm in Maths Week, we hope you had fun and learned something new along the way 🙂
