Friday, October 18th, marked Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) Awareness Day
18th Oct 2024
In Walshestown N.S., we celebrated DLD awareness Day by wearing purple and yellow, the official colors for DLD awareness. Over the past week, the children have been learning about DLD and how it can affect some of their peers. As a hidden disability, DLD is often misunderstood or overlooked. Through discussions, the children listened to how those with DLD might feel and the challenges they face. In response, they concluded that everyone deserves time, kindness, empathy, and patience, especially when encountering something difficult.
