4th Class Maths in Action- Learning all about Time

4th Mar 2026

Our 4th class have been busy exploring one-minute time intervals in Maths — and what better way to learn than by getting active!

Using a fun cross-curricular approach with Science, the children investigated how exercise affects the body. At each station, they completed a different physical activity for exactly one minute. Activities included:

🏃 Skipping
⭕ Hula hooping
🎾 Throwing and catching
🏀 Bouncing

After each minute of exercise, the children carefully found their pulse and measured their heart rate. They recorded their results and compared how different activities affected their bodies.

This hands-on lesson helped us:
✨ Develop our understanding of time intervals
✨ Practise measuring and recording data
✨ Learn how exercise impacts heart rate
✨ Work collaboratively and have lots of fun!

There was great excitement as everyone noticed how their heart rate changed depending on the activity. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for learning — active bodies and active minds at work!

Well done to all our fantastic 4th class mathematicians and scientists! 👏📊
