🌊 A huge thank you to Jamie Farelly from Irish Water Safety! 🌊
3rd Mar 2026
We would like to extend a big thank you to Jamie Farelly, Regional Education Officer with Irish Water Safety, who visited our school today to deliver fantastic and informative Water Safety Talks to our pupils.
With our school located right beside the sea, these lessons are especially important and gave our children vital knowledge on how to stay safe in and around the water. The pupils were highly engaged and learned so much through the Irish Water Safety PAWS programme. 🐾💙
Here are some of the key sea safety tips shared with our students:
✔️ Always swim where there is a lifeguard and obey the flags
✔️ Never go near the water alone – always tell an adult where you are going
✔️ Stay well back from cliffs, rocks and waves
✔️ If you get into trouble in the water, float on your back and try to stay calm
✔️ Never turn your back on the sea – waves can be unpredictable
✔️ In an emergency, call 112 or 999 and ask for the Coast Guard
Thank you again, Jamie, for such an engaging and important visit. Your message will help keep our school community safe and aware as we enjoy living so close to the sea. 🌊👏
